Razer Blade 16 for $4500 broke after a week – support offered a questionable replacement
A buyer of the Razer Blade 16 with GeForce RTX 5080 and 64 GB RAM encountered a hardware failure just one week after purchase. Instead of providing a new laptop, Razer first offered to replace the device with an “as-new” unit, although the configuration cost was approximately $4500.
The issue occurred during Age of Empires II. A few minutes after launching the game, the system froze, after which Windows disabled the discrete graphics card and displayed a Code 43 error in Device Manager.
The owner updated Windows, BIOS, MCU, and EC, completely reinstalled the NVIDIA driver via DDU, and performed a power reset. This did not help, and Razer support, after diagnostics, acknowledged a hardware fault.
The laptop was with the buyer for seven days, while Razer’s official return window is 14 days. Nevertheless, the company first offered a device that support staff described as “good as new.” However, they could not clearly explain whether it had been refurbished or previously used.
The buyer was not satisfied with this option. After further communication, Razer agreed to issue a full refund and sent a prepaid label for returning the defective laptop.
