Sales of iPhone 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max in China approached 1.3 million units during the first seven days. This is approximately 15% higher than the result for iPhone 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max over the same period a year earlier, even though both new models saw significant price increases.

At the same time, the comparison with last year’s entire lineup looks more modest. According to RD Observation, over seven days, the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max reached about 90% of the result achieved by the iPhone 17 series during the same period. This year, the base iPhone 18 did not launch simultaneously with the Pro models, so the 15% growth refers specifically to the comparison between two generations of Pro devices, not the entire iPhone lineup.

Initial demand was even higher. Earlier, RD Observation estimated iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max first-day sales at approximately 322,800 units, representing a 130% increase compared to last year’s Pro models. Thus, by the end of the first week, the advantage had narrowed from 30% to about 15%.

Sales growth occurred alongside price increases. Apple raised the starting price of both models by 1,000 yuan without changing the base storage capacity. Thus, the iPhone 18 Pro with 256 GB of storage starts at 9,999 yuan (≈ $1489) in China, while the iPhone 18 Pro Max with the same storage capacity starts at 10,999 yuan (≈ $1638).

Prices have also risen in the US and Europe. In the US, the iPhone 18 Pro starts at $1199, and the iPhone 18 Pro Max starts at $1299, which is $100 more expensive than last year’s iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max. In France, prices start at €1479 and €1629, respectively. Both models are available with storage capacities of 256 GB, 512 GB, 1 TB, and 2 TB.
