RTX 5080 and RTX 5090 disappear from NVIDIA’s store
The GeForce RTX 5080 has disappeared from NVIDIA Marketplace’s U.S. catalog, following the flagship RTX 5090. The top model still listed is the RTX 5070 Ti, with 16 GB of video memory.
The change affects more than just the Founders Edition. Listings for partner-made RTX 5080 and RTX 5090 cards have also disappeared from the U.S. catalog.
High-performance powerhouses such as the GeForce RTX 5090 and RTX 5080 have suddenly vanished from the store pages. Until recently, these cards topped the Blackwell lineup, delivering record-breaking performance in games and AI-related tasks.

Users looking for top-tier accelerators now find that the cards have either been removed from the catalog entirely or redirect to the pages of authorized partners (ASUS, MSI, Gigabyte, and others). It is no longer possible to buy NVIDIA’s own reference Founders Edition.
Why the graphics cards disappeared
Company executives have yet to comment officially, but independent electronics-market analysts and industry insiders have identified several key reasons. First and foremost, experts point to a severe shortage and problems with chip supplies. The GPUs for higher-end models are made using complex, expensive process technologies at TSMC’s factories, and demand far outstrips supply.

Another major factor is the absolute priority given to the AI industry. Companies now have a much stronger financial incentive to use scarce GPU dies to make industrial AI accelerators for data centers, since these chips have margins several times higher than consumer graphics cards.
There is also a deliberate effort to constrain retail supply. By removing its flagship models from its own store, NVIDIA reduces the strain on its logistics chains and passes scarce chip inventory on to third-party brands. This helps ease the dissatisfaction of partners, who are also struggling with component shortages for their custom models.
NVIDIA RTX 5080 with 24 GB of memory
Amid the catalog changes, rumors continue to circulate that an updated GeForce RTX 5080 with 24 GB of video memory is in the works. The model is thought to be one possible refresh of the upper end of the Blackwell lineup.
For now, these are purely unofficial reports. NVIDIA has not confirmed the possible new model’s specifications or release date, or whether it is meant to replace the current RTX 5080 with 16 GB of memory.
