NVIDIA is preparing a RTX 5080 with 24 GB of memory
NVIDIA is preparing an updated GeForce RTX 5080 with 24 GB of GDDR7 video memory, which could launch in the first quarter of 2027. According to BenchLife, the new model will replace the current version with 16 GB.
Specifications
The increase in video memory from 16 GB to 24 GB is expected to be made possible by using higher-capacity GDDR7 chips without changing the 256-bit bus. The current GeForce RTX 5080 has eight 2 GB (16 Gbit) chips. In the updated version, these could be replaced with 3 GB (24 Gbit) chips. This would increase the total video memory by 50% without widening the bus.

The extra 8 GB will be useful in games with high-resolution textures and when running local AI models that require a large amount of video memory. However, increased capacity alone does not guarantee a performance boost. The other specifications, including the GPU configuration, have yet to be confirmed.
Release date and price
According to BenchLife, NVIDIA plans to release a GeForce RTX 5080 with 24 GB of memory in the first quarter of 2027. However, the company’s partners have so far received only verbal notice that a new model is in preparation and are waiting for technical documentation. The projected release date could therefore change.
The price and final name of the graphics card are unknown. It is not yet clear whether it will be called the GeForce RTX 5080 SUPER or become a separate RTX 5080 variant. NVIDIA has not officially confirmed these plans.
