Apple sells 200,০০০ iPhone Duo units in China
According to blogger RD Observation, customers bought nearly 200,০০০ foldable iPhone Duo smartphones in China during the first four days of sales.
Discounts and delivery times
During the pre-order period, demand exceeded supply, and resellers were asking thousands of yuan more for the smartphones. After official sales began on October 23, prices from third-party sellers fell.
On Pinduoduo, the platform’s subsidy program brought the base model’s price down to 15, 799 yuan (≈ $2370), 200 yuan (≈ $30) below the official price. The offer was available for a limited number of devices. Meanwhile, delivery times for some orders on Apple’s website extend into January 2027.
Display defects and app adaptation
Some owners have reported cracks along the fold in the inner display, as well as bright lines of damaged pixels. Some defects appeared during the smartphone’s initial setup.
Apple confirmed an issue affecting a small number of iPhone Duo devices and advised affected owners to contact AppleCare for a replacement. The company has not disclosed the technical cause. Due to limited stock, some customers have to wait for a replacement.
iFixit specialists suggested that the hinge’s central support bar may not lower far enough when the device is folded. If so, it could put localized pressure on the display. This is one possible cause of the damage, not a confirmed diagnosis for all defective devices.
There are also concerns about third-party app adaptation. Some video services, finance apps, and games retain the proportions of a regular smartphone when displayed on the unfolded screen. The image is centered with wide black bars on either side, so the app uses only part of the inner display.

Shipment forecast
TrendForce forecasts shipments of about 5 million iPhone Duo units for 2026. That would account for about 24.8% of global foldable smartphone shipments over the same period.
Shipment forecasts are not the same as retail sales: devices delivered to retailers have not necessarily been bought by customers. TrendForce’s estimate and the data on the first four days of sales therefore measure different things.
