Vivo X500 Pro and X500 Pro Max – camera phones powered by the 2nm Dimensity 9600 Pro Chip

Vivo unveiled the X500 Pro and X500 Pro Max flagship smartphones in China. Both models are the first smartphones powered by the 2-nm MediaTek Dimensity 9600 Pro platform, feature ZEISS cameras with a new main Sony LYTIA L910 sensor, and support 4K slow-motion video recording at 240 fps.

The X500 Pro stands out with its compact 6.36-inch body, while the X500 Pro Max features a 200-MP periscope camera, a 6.85-inch 2K display, and an 8000 mAh battery in the Chinese version.

Design and Displays

The series’ appearance did not change radically. The X300 Pro already featured a flat display, and the large circular camera module was part of Vivo’s previous design language. In the X500 Pro and X500 Pro Max, the company retained flat screens and a large circular camera module with a textured bezel.

Both models are available in four colors: Sunny White, Starry Gray, Moonlit Black, and Sunset Orange. Thickness and weight vary by color.

The Vivo X500 Pro is equipped with a 6.36-inch LTPO OLED display BOE Q11 with a resolution of 2660×1216 pixels and an adaptive refresh rate of 1-144 Hz. It supports Dolby Vision, HDR10+, and the DCI-P3 color gamut. Peak local brightness reaches 4500 nits.

The X500 Pro Max uses a 6.85-inch LTPO OLED panel BOE Q11 with a resolution of 3168×1440 pixels, a density of 507 PPI, and a refresh rate of 1-144 Hz. At 20% screen fill, brightness reaches 4400 nits, while the local peak is rated at 5000 nits. It also supports Dolby Vision and HDR10+.

Performance

Both models are built on the MediaTek Dimensity 9600 Pro, manufactured using a 2-nm process. The octa-core processor runs at frequencies up to 4.55 GHz, with graphics handled by the GPU G2-Ultra NX.

The image processing system includes two proprietary Vivo chips: V3+ and VS1. They are used in both Pro models for photo and video processing, as well as object tracking.

The X500 Pro is equipped with 12 GB of LPDDR5X Ultra RAM and a UFS 4.1 storage drive with capacities of 256 GB, 512 GB, or 1 TB.

The X500 Pro Max is available with 12 or 16 GB of LPDDR5X Ultra RAM and a UFS 4.1 storage drive with capacities up to 1 TB.

Cameras

Both smartphones feature the same main camera: a 50-MP Sony LYTIA L910 sensor with a 1/1,28-inch size, f/1.57 aperture, optical image stabilization, LOFIC technology, and ZEISS T* coating. Vivo also assigns its own designation, Blueprint 900, to this sensor and claims a dynamic range of up to 17 EV.

The ultra-wide camera features a 50-MP Samsung JN5 sensor with approximately 1/2,76-inch dimensions, f/2.0 optics, and autofocus.

The main difference lies in the telephoto lenses. The Vivo X500 Pro features a 64-MP ZEISS APO periscope camera with a Sony LYTIA 610 sensor, 1/2-inch size, f/2.52 aperture, 85 mm equivalent focal length, and 3.5× optical zoom. Optical stabilization meets the claimed CIPA 7.0 level. The smartphone also supports the external ZEISS Telephoto Extender Gen 2 with an equivalent focal length of 200 mm.

The X500 Pro Max features a 200-MP ZEISS periscope camera APO with a Samsung HP0 sensor measuring 1/1,4 inches, an f/2.67 aperture, an 85 mm equivalent focal length, and 3.5× optical zoom. It supports hardware-based 4× In-Sensor Zoom and CIPA 7.0 image stabilization. For the smartphone, ZEISS Telephoto Extender Gen 2 lenses are available in 200 mm and Gen 2 Ultra versions at 400 mm.

The main camera of the X500 Pro Max is additionally equipped with stabilization featuring physical deviation up to 3°.

Both models feature a 50-MP front camera with a Samsung JN1 sensor, 1/2,76-inch size, f/2.0 aperture, and autofocus.

Video

Both Pro models support 4K slow-motion recording at 240 fps. Also available are 4K recording at 120 fps with autofocus tracking and cinematic modes for portrait video.

TrueDynamic Log with a claimed dynamic range of 17 EV, 10-bit 4:2:2 encoding, and ACES support is provided for subsequent color grading. An official color conversion to DaVinci Resolve is available for Log footage.

The series also supports 8K Native Live. This refers to dynamic photos in Live format, not standard 8K video recording.

Battery and Connectivity

The Chinese version of the Vivo X500 Pro is equipped with a BlueVolt silicon-carbon battery with a capacity of 6510 mAh. The X500 Pro Max features an 8000 mAh battery. Both models support 90 W wired charging, 40 W wireless charging, and reverse wireless charging.

Smartphones support 5G, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, NFC, an IR port, and satellite navigation systems. The USB Type-C port operates on the USB 3.2 Gen 1 standard. Stereo speakers, an X-axis linear vibration motor, and an ultrasonic under-display fingerprint scanner are also included. The chassis is protected to IP68 and IP69 standards.

The Moonlit Black version of the Vivo X500 Pro measures 151,78×71,92×7,95 mm and weighs 192 grams. The other colors are 8.12 mm thick and weigh 197 grams.

The Moonlit Black version of the X500 Pro Max measures 163,32×76,82×7,95 mm and weighs 225 grams. In other colors, the thickness increases to 8.12 mm, and the weight to 229 grams.

Satellite connectivity is not a standard feature on all X500 Pro Max models. It is included only in the special Creator’s Package version, which comes with 16 GB of RAM and a 1 TB storage drive.

Smartphones run on Android 17 with the OriginOS 7 skin.

Prices and release date

Pre-orders in China opened on September 21. The Vivo X500 Pro Max will go on sale on September 24, and the X500 Pro on September 29.

The European launch of the Vivo X500 Pro and X500 Pro Max will take place on October 27. Configurations, specifications for the European versions, and official prices in euros have not yet been announced.
