MacBook Neo 2 to get A19 Pro chip and 12GB of RAM
Apple is preparing a second-generation MacBook Neo with more memory as laptop component prices rise.
Why the upgrade
The original MacBook Neo debuted in March 2026 and quickly gained popularity thanks to its low price by Apple ecosystem standards, high-quality aluminum chassis, and energy-efficient A18 Pro processor. However, all configurations came with just 8GB of RAM.

The consumer electronics market has come under pressure amid shortages and sharp price increases for DRAM memory chips, driving up the cost of laptops. Against this backdrop, Apple is reportedly planning to increase the amount of RAM in the next-generation MacBook Neo, which could attract more buyers.
Hardware and performance
According to Bloomberg, the new laptop’s key upgrade will be a move to 12GB of unified memory, expanding its multitasking capabilities for everyday use. The device is expected to be powered by the energy-efficient Apple A19 Pro processor.

The iPhone 17 Pro’s A19 Pro benchmark results offer an indication of the chip’s potential: it comes close to the Apple M4 in single-core Geekbench tests, but falls behind the base Apple M2 under multi-core workloads. The laptop is expected to retain the family’s existing strengths, including a completely silent, fanless design, a bright 13-inch Liquid Retina display, and a durable metal chassis in several vivid colors.
Release date
The second-generation MacBook Neo is reportedly expected to be announced and go on sale in the first half of 2027. DigiTimes, citing supply-chain sources, reports that Apple has given suppliers a forecast of around 16 million MacBook Neo laptops for 2027.
