Red Magic 12 Pro with 185 Hz display and active cooling launches globally
Red Magic 12 Pro is the global version of the Chinese Red Magic 12 Pro+ and will go on sale on November 18, starting at €899 in Europe and $949 in the US.
Design
Red Magic 12 Pro retains a flat back with no protruding cameras. The outline of the cooling system, with ring-shaped RGB lighting, is visible through the transparent glass. The fan and touch-sensitive gaming triggers on the side are illuminated, too.

The frame is made of an aluminum alloy, with Corning Gorilla Glass 7i on the front and back. The phone measures 163,03 × 75,96 × 8,55 mm and weighs 223 grams.
The device is protected against dust and water to IP68 and IP69 standards, while the fan itself has an IPX8 rating. The air duct remains open to dust, however; its design isolates it from the phone’s main components.
Display
Red Magic 12 Pro has a 6.85-inch BOE X11 AMOLED display with a resolution of 2688 × 1216 pixels and a 20:9 aspect ratio. The bezels are 0.96 mm wide, and the screen-to-body ratio is reportedly 96.3%.

The refresh rate reaches 185 Hz. The touch-sampling rate averages 500 Hz and can reach 5000 Hz instantaneously. The Synaptics controller supports operation with wet hands.
The display is rated for peak brightness of up to 1900 nits across the entire panel and up to 5000 nits locally. It offers full DCI-P3 coverage, ΔE < 1 color accuracy, HDR10 and HLG support, and SGS eye-care certification.
The front camera is hidden beneath the display using ninth-generation UDC technology, leaving no holes or cutouts on the screen. Operation at the maximum refresh rate depends on whether a particular game supports it and is optimized for it.
Performance
The phone is powered by the 2 nm Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6, with eight Oryon cores clocked at up to 5 GHz. The RedCore R5 gaming coprocessor handles image upscaling and frame generation, while a separate G1 controller manages the display.

Red Magic 12 Pro comes with 12 or 16 GB of RAM, with LPDDR5X Ultra Pro used in higher-end configurations. Storage options are 256 GB, 512 GB, or 1 TB, with up to UFS 4.1 Pro storage.
The AquaCore Cooling 3.0 system combines two liquid-cooling loops, a micropump, a vapor chamber, Liquid Metal 4.0 thermal interface material, and a fan running at up to 25, 500 rpm. Liquid cooling covers the processor and battery areas.
Gaming controls include 520 Hz shoulder touch triggers, an 0815 X-axis linear vibration motor, and 1115E stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos. The customizable Magic Key opens GameSpace by default, but can also launch the camera, flashlight, voice recorder, and other functions.
Cameras
The rear panel houses two cameras:
- a 50 MP main camera with an OmniVision OV50J sensor in 1/1,56-inch optical format, 1 μm pixels, an f/1.89 lens, and optical image stabilization;
- a 50 MP ultrawide camera with an OmniVision OV50D40 sensor in 1/2,87-inch format and an f/2.2 lens.

The main lens consists of seven elements and has an APL anti-reflective coating. The under-display front camera uses a 16 MP OmniVision OV16A sensor with 1.12 μm pixels and an f/2.0 lens.
Battery
The battery has a typical capacity of 8400 mAh. The global version supports wired and wireless charging at up to 80 W. For comparison, the Chinese Red Magic 12 Pro+ supports wired charging at up to 120 W.
The phone supports reverse wired and wireless charging for accessories, as well as bypass charging. The latter supplies power directly from the adapter to the phone’s components during gameplay, bypassing the battery.
Software and connectivity
The phone runs Red Magic OS 12, based on Android 17. Software features include Google Gemini, Circle to Search, real-time translation, and call captions.
The X-Gravity gaming hub includes a PC emulator and access to the Steam library. It lets users run compatible PC games on the phone, though availability and performance depend on the specific game.

Supported features include 5G SA/NSA, dual nano-SIM, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.0, NFC with Google Pay, and dual-frequency GPS L1 + L5. There is no eSIM. The phone also has an infrared transmitter, an ultrasonic in-display fingerprint scanner, and facial recognition.
The USB-C port conforms to the USB 3.2 Gen 2 standard and supports 4K video output via DisplayPort. An adapter is required for HDMI connectivity. There is no 3.5 mm headphone jack.
Pricing and availability
At launch, the phone will be available in two transparent colorways: black Nightfreeze and silver Subzero. The base configuration comes only in black, while both higher-end models are available in both colors.
