Redmi Watch 6 Active released – AMOLED display and 18 days of battery life for €43

Xiaomi has started international sales of the Redmi Watch 6 Active – the most affordable smartwatches in the current Redmi lineup. The model features an AMOLED display, a slim body, Bluetooth calling, and a 470 мА·ч battery.

Chassis and display

One of the main updates to the Redmi Watch 6 Active is the screen. Xiaomi has abandoned the 2-inch LCD panel of the Redmi Watch 5 Active in favor of a 1.85-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 390 × 450 pixels and a density of 322 PPI. Peak brightness reaches 1200 nits, and the screen-to-front-panel area ratio is 71.2%. Always-on Display mode is supported.

Despite the switch to AMOLED, the watch itself has become more compact. The case dimensions are 44,5 × 39,4 × 9,9 mm, and the weight without the strap is 26 grams. For comparison, the Redmi Watch 5 Active had a thickness of 11.4 mm and weighed 30.6 grams without the strap.

The frame is made of plastic with metallic coating, and the front features slightly curved 2.5D glass. The included TPU strap is designed for wrists with a circumference of 135 to 205 mm and features a quick-release attachment.

Three color options are available: Midnight Black, Matte Silver, and a brighter Sunset Orange.

Health and Sports

Redmi Watch 6 Active received a heart rate sensor with blood oxygen level detection and an accelerometer. The watch continuously monitors heart rate, SpO2, stress levels, and sleep, and can alert you to abnormal heart rate and insufficient blood oxygen saturation.

Breathing exercises, menstrual cycle tracking, and a special vitality index are also provided.

More than 140 sports modes are available for workouts, including running, cycling, indoor activities, and team sports. At the same time, a built-in GPS or other GNSS module is not specified in the specifications of the Redmi Watch 6 Active, so a smartphone will be required for full route recording during runs and bike rides.

The chassis is protected against dust and water to the IP68 standard. Interestingly, for the previous Redmi Watch 5 Active, Xiaomi specified protection level 5 ATM, whereas the new model’s official specifications explicitly state IP68.

Calls and additional features

Thanks to the built-in microphone and speaker, you can answer regular phone calls via Bluetooth with the Redmi Watch 6 Active while the watch is connected to a smartphone. Calls via third-party applications are not supported.

The device runs on Xiaomi HyperOS and uses Bluetooth 5.3. Smartphones with Android 8.0 and later are supported, as well as iPhones with iOS 14 and later versions.

Among the additional features are smartphone notifications, music control, weather, calendar, tasks, alarm clock, stopwatch, phone finder function, and using the screen as a flashlight. Users can also install various watch faces.

Battery

The battery capacity is 470 мА·ч. Xiaomi announces three autonomous operation scenarios:

• up to 18 days with light use;
• up to 12 days with normal use;
• up to 6 days with intensive use and Always-on Display enabled, along with active health metrics monitoring.

To achieve the maximum 18 days, Xiaomi conducted tests at a screen brightness of 120 nits with extended sleep monitoring, stress monitoring, and SpO₂ disabled. Therefore, when using most features, the actual battery life will be closer to the claimed 12 days.

The watch is charged using the included magnetic cable.

Price and start of sales

The Redmi Watch 6 Active is already launching on the international market. In Eurozone countries, the recommended price is €42.99 – approximately 14% lower than previously expected.

In other regions, the price differs. For example, in Japan the watch is sold for 5580 yen, in Czechia – for 999 crowns, in South Korea – for 54,800 won, and in Singapore – for 49.90 Singapore dollars.

In some countries, Xiaomi also uses the Redmi Watch 6 Active as a bonus with new smartphones. In particular, until September 4, the Midnight Black watch can be obtained for free with the purchase of the top-tier Poco F9 Ultra version with 16 GB of RAM and 512 GB of internal storage.
