Redmi Note 17 Pro 5G and Redmi Note 17 Pro Max 5G differ slightly from the Note 17 models presented on the Chinese market.

The new models feature 6.83-inch OLED displays with a 120 Hz refresh rate, higher-capacity silicon-carbon batteries, and protective glass Gorilla Glass Victus 2. At the same time, Xiaomi has abandoned the 200-megapixel cameras that were used in several previous generations.

Redmi Note 17 Pro 5G

Redmi Note 17 Pro 5G received a 6.83-inch OLED display with 1280 × 2772 pixels resolution, 120 Hz refresh rate, 12-bit color depth, and peak brightness up to 3500 nits. The screen is protected by Gorilla Glass Victus 2 glass.

The gadget’s performance is handled by Snapdragon 6s Gen 4. LPDDR4X RAM is available in 6, 8, or 12 GB capacities, while storage comes in 128, 256, or 512 GB options. The 128 GB version uses UFS 2.2, while the others use UFS 3.1. The battery capacity is 8340 мА·ч. Fast charging support with HyperCharge power of 67 W is announced. According to Xiaomi, charging from 0 to 50% takes 34 minutes, and video playback time reaches up to 28 hours. Reverse charging with a power of 22.5 W is also supported.

Main camera is dual:

  • 50 MP, main sensor with OIS;
  • 8 MP, ultra-wide-angle lens.

Front camera – 16 MP.

It is also worth noting the presence of stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos support and water and dust protection according to the IP68 standard. Xiaomi has added a set of features for processing photos using AI. The smartphone runs on HyperOS 3 and will receive security updates for six years. The device thickness is 8.6 mm, and the weight is 223 grams.

Redmi Note 17 Pro Max 5G

The main advantage of the Redmi Note 17 Pro Max 5G is a battery with a capacity of 9210 мА·ч. Despite the significantly larger capacity, the smartphone has the same thickness as the Pro version and weighs about 225 grams.

Xiaomi claims up to 37 hours of video playback, up to 19 hours of gaming, and up to 13 hours of video recording. HyperCharge with a power of 100 W is supported. The manufacturer claims that 20 minutes of charging provides a full day of use. Reverse charging power is 27 W.

Redmi Note 17 Pro Max 5G

The smartphone is equipped with the same 6.83-inch OLED display as the Pro, but additionally supports Dolby Vision and HDR10+. The gadget runs on a more powerful Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 SoC, manufactured using TSMC’s 4nm process. Graphics are handled by Adreno 812. For the 256 GB and 512 GB versions, fast memory UFS 4.1 is provided with sequential read and write speeds up to 2100 MB/s. The 128 GB variant received UFS 2.2.

Cameras have become another distinguishing feature of the Max version. The main 50-MP sensor here is larger, with a pixel size of 0.8 µm, and the lens has an aperture of f/1.5. The front camera has a resolution of 32 MP and can record video in 4K.

Redmi Note 17 Pro Max 5G meets IP66 and IP68 water and dust protection standards. The gadget also runs on Xiaomi HyperOS 3 based on Android 16 and features artificial intelligence capabilities, including AI Eraser Pro, AI Reflection Removal, AI Image Enhancement, AI Sky, and AI Bokeh. The phone supports Google Gemini features, although Xiaomi notes that their availability depends on the region and software version.

Release dates, colors, and prices

Sales of the Redmi Note 17 Pro 5G and Redmi Note 17 Pro Max 5G in India will start on September 15. The Redmi Note 17 Pro 5G will be available in four colors: sky blue, satin orange, purple, and black.

Redmi Note 17 Pro Max 5G will receive four color variants: purple, black, pale pink, and green.

The cost of Redmi Note 17 Pro 5G starts at $400, and the Redmi Note 17 Pro Max 5G starts at $500.
