Lenovo unveils ThinkBook 14x Gen 2 laptop – a MacBook Neo rival weighing 990 grams

Lenovo unveiled the new ThinkBook 14x Gen 2 at IFA 2026. With a 14-inch display, the laptop weighs as little as 990 grams and has a thickness starting at 12.9 mm. The model runs on Intel Core Series 3 processors from the Wildcat Lake family and features an OLED display with a 120 Hz refresh rate and peak brightness up to 1100 nits in HDR.

Display

The ThinkBook 14x Gen 2 offers two 14-inch display options with a 16:10 aspect ratio. The base IPS panel features a resolution of 1920 × 1200 pixels, a refresh rate of 120 Hz, brightness of 400 nits, and 100% sRGB color gamut coverage. A touch layer is available for this panel.

The OLED version offers a 2.8K resolution, 120 Hz refresh rate, and 100% DCI-P3 color gamut. Brightness is 500 nits for standard content display and reaches 1100 nits in HDR.

Performance

The laptop runs on Intel Core 7 Series 3 Wildcat Lake family. The higher-end configurations use Core 7 350. The platform’s declared TDP is 25 W.

LPDDR5x-7467 memory capacity reaches 32 GB, while SSD reaches 2 TB. A discrete graphics card is not provided; integrated Intel graphics are used.

Battery and connectors

Depending on the version, the battery capacity is 54.7 or 65 Wh. The package includes a 65 W USB-C adapter.

The chassis features two USB-C 3.2 Gen 2 ports with speeds up to 10 Gbit/s, two USB-A 3.2 Gen 1 ports, an HDMI 2.1 TMDS port, and a 3.5-mm audio jack. There is no memory card slot.

Despite being positioned above standard budget models, the ThinkBook laptop lacks Thunderbolt and USB4. HDMI also uses TMDS and is limited to a 4K output at 60 Hz.

Other

The ThinkBook 14x Gen 2 supports Wi-Fi 6E and Wi-Fi 7 with channel widths up to 160 MHz. A Full HD camera with an infrared sensor for biometric authentication is mounted above the display. The audio system includes two 2 W speakers with Dolby Atmos support.

The dimensions of the ThinkBook 14x Gen 2 are 312 × 217 mm, with a thickness ranging from 12.9 to 15.6 mm depending on the configuration. The minimum weight is 990 grams.

Lenovo will offer four chassis colors: Celestial White, Luna Grey, Veil Blue, and Mystic Violet. The laptop features a glass touchpad measuring 120 × 75 mm and a keyboard with spill protection. Key backlighting depends on the configuration.
