
MediaTek unveiled Dimensity 9600 Pro and 9600M – 2 nm, LPDDR6, and UFS 5.0
The Dimensity 9600 Pro became the first MediaTek chip manufactured using TSMC’s 2-nm process, featuring support for LPDDR6, UFS 5.0, and 4K video recording at 240 frames per second. The Dimensity 9600M is produced using a 3-nm process and is designed for a broader segment of flagship smartphones.
Dimensity 9600 Pro
The Dimensity 9600 Pro uses an All Big Core eight-core architecture with a 2+3+3 configuration. Two C2-Ultra cores run at up to 4.55 GHz, three additional C2-Pro cores at up to 4.35 GHz, and the remaining three C2-Pro cores at up to 3.1 GHz. Total cache memory reaches 34.5 MB.
According to MediaTek, single-threaded performance increased by up to 17% compared to the previous generation, while multi-threaded performance rose by up to 15%. Under multi-threaded workloads, power consumption dropped to 61%. These figures were obtained by MediaTek itself on a test device.

Dimensity 9600 Pro is the first processor from the company to support LPDDR6 RAM and UFS 5.0 storage. The updated Dimensity Scheduling Engine distributes workloads across compute blocks, memory, and other platform components.
Graphics are handled by the G2-Ultra NX. MediaTek claims peak performance has increased by up to 27% while power consumption at peak load drops by up to 24%. Ray tracing performance has improved by up to 18%. The Dimensity Neural Graphics Architecture combines GPU capabilities with an AI accelerator, and HyperEngine enables compatible games to run at frame rates of up to 185 fps.
Cameras and video
Image processing is handled by ISP Imagiq 1290 together with the new Dimensity AI Imaging Fusion architecture, which combines the capabilities of ISP and the neural processor.
The platform supports native 4K slow-motion video recording at up to 240 frames per second, cinematic 4K Log shooting at 120 frames per second, and a 60 frames per second 4K mode with AI True Color Tone. The claimed dynamic range during image processing reaches 17 EV.
Motion tracking at 60 frames per second is also supported using NPU.
More capabilities for local AI
Dimensity 9600 Pro features an architecture with two neural processing units and an Agentic AI Engine. The main NPU 1090 delivers up to 51% higher performance during the pre-processing stage of language model queries and up to 55% more generated tokens per watt.
The platform supports local execution of models with up to 30 billion parameters. The second energy-efficient NPU is designed, among other things, for always-on AI functions. According to MediaTek, its power consumption in such scenarios has decreased by 40%.
The new AI Computing Fusion Architecture enables CPU and NPU to jointly process artificial intelligence tasks. Among the possible scenarios, MediaTek cites on-device data analysis, personalized recommendations, and AI assistant operations without constant reliance on cloud servers.
Dimensity 9600M
The Dimensity 9600M sits one step below the Pro version and is manufactured using TSMC’s 3nm process. MediaTek positions the processor as a solution for a broader segment of flagship smartphones.

The full technical specifications of the Dimensity 9600M have not yet been disclosed by the company. It is known that the chip uses the Agentic AI Engine and Dimensity Scheduling Engine, and its NPU supports always-on AI functions and real-time image processing.
The built-in ISP is designed to process photos and track objects in real time. HyperEngine with support for up to 185 frames per second is used for gaming. MediaTek also claims support for modern wireless technologies, but detailed specifications for the modem, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth have not yet been published.
Release dates
The first smartphones with the new processors will arrive in the coming days. Vivo confirmed that the X500 Pro series will be the first to receive the 2nm Dimensity 9600 Pro. Its presentation is scheduled for September 21. Following that, the new MediaTek chip will appear in the OPPO Find X10 Pro Max, which will be unveiled on September 22. The Dimensity 9600M is expected to be used in other models of the Find X10 series, although OPPO has not yet specified exactly which smartphones will get this processor.
