Vivo X500 unveiled: 7500 mAh, 144Hz AMOLED, and 64-MP ZEISS periscope

The Vivo X500 features a 7500 mAh battery, ZEISS cameras, a new 3-nm MediaTek Dimensity 9600M processor, and an 8.15 mm-thick body.

Design and display

The Vivo X500 features a flat display, an aluminum frame, and a glass back with a large circular camera module. The device dimensions are 157,01 × 74,49 × 8,15 mm. The Earth Echo, Sunny Day, and Dawn versions weigh 211 grams, while the Night version weighs 213 grams.

The chassis meets IP68 and IP69 protection classes. According to Vivo, the IP68 test involves submersion in fresh water at a depth of 1.5 meters for 30 minutes; however, the manufacturer separately warns that the smartphone is not a professional waterproof device.

The front panel features a flat 6.59-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 2750 × 1260 pixels, a pixel density of 459 PPI, and support for 1.07 billion colors. The screen operates at refresh rates of 30, 60, 90, 120, or 144 Hz. Peak brightness at 20% APL reaches 4000 nits, while global peak brightness is 2000 nits.

Under the screen is an ultrasonic 3D fingerprint scanner.

Performance

Unlike the X500 Pro and X500 Pro Max with the 2-nm Dimensity 9600 Pro, the base Vivo X500 was the first to receive the 3-nm MediaTek Dimensity 9600M.

The eight-core processor includes one core with a frequency up to 4.21 GHz, three cores up to 3.5 GHz, and four cores up to 2.7 GHz. Graphics are handled by the Arm Mali-G1 Ultra. The platform also supports local operation of Gemini Nano 4 and Qwen 3.5 Omni 4B models.

The smartphone is released exclusively with 12 GB of four-channel LPDDR5X Ultra RAM. The storage capacity UFS 4.1 is available in 256 GB, 512 GB, or 1 TB.

The smartphone runs on Android 17 with the OriginOS 7 skin.

Cameras

The Vivo X500 features a dedicated image processing chip, the Vivo V3+. The main ZEISS camera system consists of three cameras:

50 MP main Sony LYTIA-828 camera with a 1/1,28″ sensor, f/1.68 aperture, 23 mm equivalent focal length, OIS, CIPA 5.5-level image stabilization, and ZEISS T* coating;
64 MP Sony LYTIA-610 periscope telephoto camera with a 1/2″ sensor, f/2.55 aperture, 72 mm equivalent focal length, 3.1x optical zoom, OIS, and CIPA 5.5 image stabilization;
50 MP ultra-wide camera with 1/2,76″ format, f/2.0, 15 mm focal length, and autofocus.

The telephoto camera can focus from a distance of 15 cm for macro photography. The maximum digital zoom is 100×.

The front camera has a 50 MP resolution, a 1/2,76″ sensor format, an f/2.0 aperture, a 92° field of view, and autofocus.

Vivo X500 supports video recording up to 8K and slow-motion capture up to 4K. The telephoto camera is specified for 4K recording at 120 frames per second.

The smartphone also supports 8K Native Live and 4K Cinematic Live with cinematic color profiles. These features will be available after a software update. Additionally, the X500 is compatible with the Vivo ZEISS Telephoto Extender G2 teleconverter, which has an equivalent focal length of 200 mm and is sold separately.

Battery

The Vivo X500 is equipped with a BlueVolt battery featuring a typical capacity of 7500 mAh and a nominal capacity of 7270 mAh. The manufacturer uses a fifth-generation anode with increased silicon content.

Wired charging up to 90 W and wireless charging up to 40 W are supported. Reverse charging via OTG is also available.

Connectivity and Interfaces

The Vivo X500 supports 5G, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, and NFC. It includes an infrared transmitter for controlling home appliances.

The USB Type-C port operates on the USB 3.2 standard and supports video output via DisplayPort. It also features two speakers and an X-axis linear vibration motor.
