Nintendo has sold 26.35 million Switch 2 consoles
Nintendo has published its financial results for the first half of the fiscal year ending in March 2027 and revealed the latest sales figures for Switch 2.
From its launch in June 2025 through September 30, 2026, the company sold 26.35 million consoles worldwide. By comparison, cumulative sales of the first-generation Nintendo Switch, including the Switch Lite and OLED model, reached 157.2 million units.
Sales decline
From April to September 2026, Nintendo sold 6.49 million Switch 2 consoles. That was 37.4% fewer than in the same period last year, when sales totaled 10.36 million units.

The decline was especially pronounced in the second quarter: 2.67 million consoles were sold from July to September, compared with 4.54 million a year earlier. That represents a 41.2% drop. Nintendo said demand in Japan rose ahead of a price increase in May, and the subsequent slowdown in retail sales was viewed by the company as stabilization.
Nintendo game sales grow
While console sales declined, sales of games for Switch 2 rose. Nintendo sold 24.49 million copies of Switch 2 games in the first half, up 18.8% from a year earlier. Among successful releases for the first-generation Nintendo Switch, the company highlighted Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream and Rhythm Heaven Groove, which sold 8.81 million and 2.89 million copies, respectively, during the half-year.
Sales target unchanged
Despite the decline in console sales, Nintendo left its forecast for the current fiscal year unchanged. The company expects to sell 16.5 million Switch 2 consoles by the end of March 2027. To meet its target, it will need to sell around 10 million consoles in the second half of the year.
Nintendo aims to sustain interest in the platform with new games. The company also noted that holiday-season sales have a significant impact on annual shipments.
