Poco M8x unveiled – a 6.9-inch smartphone with a 7900 мА·ч battery
Poco unveiled the M8x in India – the third model of the current M8 series. The smartphone is focused on battery life: at a thickness of 8.8 mm, the manufacturer managed to install a battery of nearly 8000 мА·ч.
At the same time, to maintain the price, significant savings had to be made on the display – with a 6.9-inch diagonal, its resolution is only HD+.
Display
Poco M8x received a 6.9-inch IPS display with 1600×720 pixels resolution and adaptive refresh rate up to 120 Hz. The touch layer polling frequency reaches 240 Hz, and the maximum brightness in HBM mode is 825 nits.
The screen is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 7i glass. Wet Touch 2.0 is also supported, enabling the display to more accurately recognize touches from wet fingers.
The manufacturer claims three TÜV Rheinland certifications: reduced blue light intensity, no noticeable flicker, and more circadian rhythm-friendly screen operation.
The most controversial parameter remains the resolution. For a smartphone with a diagonal of nearly 7 inches, the pixel density at 1600×720 pixels will be relatively low.
Performance
Poco M8x became the first smartphone on the Indian market with Qualcomm Snapdragon 4 Gen 5. The chip is manufactured using a 4-nm process and includes two Cortex-A78 cores with frequencies up to 2.4 ГГц and six Cortex-A55 cores up to 2.0 ГГц. Graphics are handled by Adreno 613.

Poco claims that the new platform allows apps to run 43% faster, and the smartphone’s AnTuTu score exceeds 650,000 points.
4 or 6 GB of LPDDR4X RAM is provided. In both cases, a UFS 2.2 drive with a capacity of 128 GB is installed. There is separate microSD card support, so you won’t have to sacrifice the second SIM card for storage expansion. The higher-end version also allows virtually increasing the RAM volume to 12 GB.
A three-component system is used for cooling. It includes a graphite plate with an area of 12,439 mm², copper foil with an area of 1,924 mm², and a thermal interface with a power dissipation of 3.5 W.
The smartphone comes with HyperOS 3 based on Android 16. Poco promises four major Android updates and six years of security updates—an unusually long support period for a device in this price segment.
Circle to Search, Gemini, proprietary Hyper Island dynamic notifications, and cross-device interaction features of the Xiaomi ecosystem are also available.
Battery
The main feature of the Poco M8x is a battery with a capacity of 7900 мА·ч. Wired charging with a power of 45 W is supported. According to Poco, the smartphone can be charged for approximately one day of use in 30 minutes.
There is also reverse wired charging with power up to 22.5 W. In fact, the smartphone can be used as a small power bank for headphones, watches, or another phone.
The manufacturer claims up to 35 hours of social media usage, 13 hours of GPS navigation, and up to 64 hours of music playback. In a less intensive messaging scenario, the advertised battery life reaches up to 27 days. With typical mixed use, Poco claims approximately three days without a charger.
Cameras
There are two cameras on the back panel. The main unit received a 50-MP sensor of 1/2,8 inch format and an f/1.8 aperture lens. Dual digital zoom is supported using the central area of the sensor.

The second module is a 2-MP macro camera. There is no separate ultra-wide-angle lens or telephoto lens.
The front camera has a resolution of 8 MP and an f/2.0 aperture lens. The main and front cameras record video at a maximum resolution of 1080p.
Other
Poco M8x received IP64 protection: the body is fully protected from dust ingress and can withstand water splashes, but submerging the smartphone in water is not allowed.
There are two stereo speakers with Hi-Res Audio support and a 300% volume boost mode, and the 3.5-mm wired headphone jack has been retained. An IR port and a fingerprint scanner on the side are also provided.
5G, dual SIM cards, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.1, GPS/GLONASS, and USB Type-C are supported.
The body dimensions are 170,12×78,43×8,8 mm, and the weight is a substantial 232 grams. The smartphone is available in black, blue, and green colors. The Leather Green version features a textured back panel with an artificial leather finish.
