Compared to Galaxy A07, the new Samsung Galaxy A08 features a larger-capacity battery and improved dust protection. However, the smartphone’s main specifications, including the processor, display, and cameras, have remained virtually unchanged.

Specifications

The Samsung Galaxy A08 is equipped with a 6.7-inch PLS LCD display featuring a resolution of 1600 × 720 pixels, a 90 Hz refresh rate, and an HD+ format. The smartphone’s hardware foundation is the MediaTek Helio G99.

Samsung Galaxy A08

Samsung uses LPDDR5X RAM. Depending on the market, the Galaxy A08 is available with 4, 6, or 8 GB of RAM and storage of 64, 128, or 256 GB. The Samsung website for Bosnia and Herzegovina lists a 4/128 GB version. A dedicated slot supports microSD cards with capacities up to 2 TB.

The battery has a typical capacity of 6000 mAh, compared to 5000 mAh in the Galaxy A07. It supports wired charging up to 25 W.

Samsung Galaxy A08

The main camera includes two sensors:

  • 50 MP, main camera, f/1.8;
  • 2 MP, depth sensor, f/2.4.

For selfies and video calls, there is an 8 MP front camera with an f/2.0 aperture located in a U-shaped display notch. The main and front cameras record Full HD video at 1920 × 1080 pixels resolution at 30 frames per second. The main camera also supports up to 10× digital zoom; optical stabilization is not available.

Galaxy A08 supports 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 5.3, GPS, GLONASS, BeiDou, Galileo, and QZSS. It features two nano-SIM slots, a dedicated microSD slot, USB Type-C with USB 2.0 interface, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. There is no NFC or stereo speakers.

The chassis is protected against dust and water splashes to the IP64 standard. For comparison, the Galaxy A07 has an IP54 rating. The dimensions of the Galaxy A08 are 167,4 × 77,4 × 8,0 mm, with a weight of 197 grams. The predecessor was slightly thinner and lighter: 7.6 mm and 184 grams.

Software and features

Out of the box, Galaxy A08 runs Android 17 with One UI 9. Samsung promises up to six major Android updates and up to six years of security updates.

The smartphone also supports Circle to Search for finding objects, text, and images on the screen. To protect user data, it features the Samsung Knox Vault system with EAL5+ certification.

Release dates and price

Samsung has not yet announced the official price or launch dates. The Galaxy A08 is already listed on the company’s website for Bosnia and Herzegovina, but the smartphone cannot be purchased yet.

For this market, three colors are announced: dark blue, green, and silver.
