Red Magic 12 Pro trailed the iPhone 18 Pro Max in a performance comparison across several mobile games. Apple’s smartphone delivered higher frame rates in two of the three games tested, while also draining less battery and running cooler.

Test results

In Monster Hunter Outlanders, the iPhone 18 Pro Max averaged 117.9 FPS, compared with 87.7 FPS for the Red Magic 12 Pro. The smartphones reached temperatures of 38 °C and 40 °C, respectively, and consumed 6.3 and 6.5 W.

In Where Winds Meet, the difference in frame rate was small: 60 FPS on the iPhone versus 58.5 FPS on the Red Magic. Apple’s phone had a more substantial advantage in the other metrics, however. Its temperature reached 36 °C, while the competitor heated up to 47 °C. Power consumption was 6.2 W versus 12.9 W.

In Fortnite, the gaming phone outperformed its competitor in frame rate. The Red Magic 12 Pro averaged 128 FPS, while the iPhone 18 Pro Max managed 119.7 FPS. However, frame-rate comparisons do not account for differences in graphics quality. According to the test’s author, the game looks noticeably better on the iPhone.
