Burgundy iPhone 18 Pro units fade to red
New complaints have appeared online regarding the iPhone 18 Pro, whose casing changed color from dark burgundy to bright red in just three weeks.
The photos were posted by a Reddit user with the nickname Low-Ad9343. He stated that he purchased the iPhone 18 Pro in Burgundy on September 19 and noticed the color change on October 9. The images clearly show the difference between the original dark burgundy shade and the lighter red areas of the casing.
The author of the post claims that he did not use any cleaning agents that could have damaged the finish. In the comments, users suggested that the color change is related to the effect of chemical substances on the colored aluminum. However, there is no confirmation of this version.
The owner has already contacted an Apple Store and reported the issue to store staff. According to him, the specialists decided to consult with an Apple engineer and promised to provide an answer on Monday, October 12. It is not yet known whether the company will recognize the color change as a warranty case and agree to replace the smartphone.
Previously, owners of the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max had already complained about the appearance of light and pinkish spots near the cameras. However, the new case is distinguished by a much more pronounced change in the casing’s shade. Similar complaints were received from owners of orange iPhone 17 Pro models, although a connection between these cases has not been established.
Apple has not yet confirmed the existence of a manufacturing defect. The cause of the color change and the number of affected devices remain unknown.
