iPhone 18 Pro Max charges to 55% in 15 minutes

The new iPhone 18 Pro Max has become Apple’s fastest-charging smartphone. In tests, peak wired charging power reached 52 W. For comparison, the iPhone 17 Pro Max drew about 35 W at its peak under similar measurements.

Test results

In the first 10 minutes, the iPhone 18 Pro Max charged from 0% to 34%, and after 15 minutes, the battery level reached 55%. This is slightly better than Apple’s official claim, which states charging to 50% takes approximately 15 minutes.

The indicator reached 100% in 55 minutes. Meanwhile, the smartphone continued to draw a small amount of power and fully stopped charging approximately 76 minutes later. For comparison, the iPhone 17 Pro Max in previous tests reached 38% in 15 minutes and showed 100% in about 72 minutes.

The battery capacity of the European version of the iPhone 18 Pro Max is 5391 mAh. Despite the larger battery, the new model charges noticeably faster than its predecessor.

There is no significant improvement in wireless charging. The iPhone 18 Pro Max, like the previous generation, supports MagSafe with up to 25 W of power. Apple states it charges to 50% in about 30 minutes.

Which adapter is needed?

Not every powerful power supply will work for maximum speed. Apple states that to charge up to 50% in about 15 minutes, you need an adapter supporting USB Power Delivery 3.1 and Adjustable Voltage Supply (AVS), capable of delivering 60 W or more.

Apple itself offers a 40-watt Dynamic Power Adapter that can briefly boost output power to 60 watts and supports AVS. Therefore, some more powerful adapters for MacBook without the required profile AVS will not provide maximum charging speed for the iPhone 18 Pro Max.

The smartphone’s box does not include a power adapter – Apple includes only the USB-C cable.
