New generations of NVIDIA and AMD graphics cards delayed to 2028
According to fresh insider data, do not expect a near-term announcement of the new generation of NVIDIA and AMD graphics cards. New models may not appear on the market not only this year but throughout all of 2027.
Artificial Intelligence vs. the Gaming Industry
The main reason cited for the plan revision is the artificial intelligence boom. As insider Kepler_L2 reports, high demand for AI accelerators is forcing manufacturers to reallocate priorities. Producing server equipment for data centers and cloud computing generates more profit for companies, so available production capacity is directed first and foremost to this segment rather than consumer graphics cards.
According to the source, a full refresh of the gaming product lines should not be expected until 2028. The only exception may be one mid-range graphics card AMD, which is expected to launch in 2027. It is anticipated that it will be built on the RDNA 5 architecture and feature 40 compute units, as well as 12 GB of GDDR7 video memory with a 192-bit bus.
Manufacturers’ stance
Neither NVIDIA nor AMD has officially commented on these rumors or announced release dates for the next generations of gaming graphics cards. Partners that produce ready-made models also currently lack specific information.
According to them, NVIDIA and AMD have not yet provided even preliminary plans or schedules for future deliveries.
