The base Mac mini with the M6 chip was tested in ten Windows games via the CrossOver compatibility layer. In select titles, the compact Apple computer achieved up to 75 FPS in Resident Evil Requiem and up to 110 FPS in Path of Exile 2.

The test was conducted by the author of the YouTube channel Andrew Tsai on a base Mac mini M6 with 16 GB of unified memory. The M6 chip includes a 12-core CPU and a 12-core GPU with hardware ray tracing. The base Mac mini configuration comes with SSD of 256 GB, and the unified memory capacity can be increased to 24 or 32 GB.

Resident Evil Requiem and 007 First Light

Resident Evil Requiem launched with a 1440p output, but actual rendering was performed at 720p followed by upscaling. At low and standard settings, scenes featuring Leon ran at approximately 50-55 FPS, while the less demanding Grace episode delivered 65-75 FPS.

Even after enabling higher-quality hair rendering, the frame rate in the scene with Leon remained above 50 FPS. At the same time, the game consumed nearly all available 16 GB of unified memory, after which macOS began using SSD as swap file. Therefore, the 75 FPS figure cannot be directly compared to PC results at native 1440p resolution.

Mac mini M6 007 First Light

In the 007 First Light test, testing began with low settings and upscaling from 720p. The author then raised quality to medium, increased internal resolution, and capped the frame rate at 30 FPS. This option provided more stable performance and better image quality, but memory usage again exceeded the available 16 GB.

Control Resonant and Path of Exile 2

Control Resonant proved to be more temperamental. The configuration with Game Porting Toolkit 4.0 did not work correctly, so the game had to be launched via CrossOver 26.3. With the graphics preset for portable devices and scaling from 720p, the frame rate was around 50 FPS fps and higher.

At the same time, incorrect colors appeared in some windows, and memory usage gradually increased. Nevertheless, the game was successfully played at least up to the first boss. CrossOver 26.3 was released in July 2026 and remains a standalone compatibility layer version, so a newer configuration did not yield better results in this case.

Path of Exile 2 showed the highest FPS values. At 1440p resolution, low settings, and upscaling from 960p, the game typically ran at 80-110 FPS. Occasionally, the frame rate dropped to around 65 FPS during shader compilation. After caching them, such micro-stutters occurred less frequently.

Mac mini M6 Path of Exile 2

The test included Resident Evil Requiem, 007 First Light, Counter-Strike 2, Control Resonant, Dark Souls 3, Red Dead Redemption 2, Path of Exile 2, Marvel Rivals, Black Myth: Wukong, and Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart. Dark Souls 3 was omitted in some recaps of the test, although it is present in the original video.

Results show that the base Mac mini M6 can run modern Windows games at acceptable frame rates even without native macOS versions. However, performance heavily depends on the specific game and CrossOver settings, while upscaling, shader compilation, rendering errors, and insufficient unified memory remain notable limitations.
