Apple is preparing two waves of announcements in October. Smart home devices are expected on October 13, and new Macs, including the first MacBook with an OLED touchscreen, are expected at the end of the month.

MacRumors, citing sources, reports that Apple will introduce additional products in the last week of October. The publication does not claim that this will be a separate, full-scale presentation: the format of the announcement is still unknown.

MacBook with a touchscreen

One of the main new products could be a redesigned MacBook, which is sometimes referred to in leaks as MacBook Ultra. 14-inch and 16-inch OLED displays with touch support, a thinner and lighter chassis, a Dynamic Island instead of the familiar notch, and M5 Pro and M5 Max processors are expected. The name MacBook Ultra has not yet been confirmed – the computer may retain the MacBook Pro brand.

Mac Studio M1 Ultra vs Macbook Pro M4 Max

An indirect hint of a touchscreen MacBook was discovered in the beta version of macOS 27.2. The system now includes elements for processing touch input in Safari, Photos, Notes, and Quick Look. However, these changes could relate to the Sidecar feature, so they do not in themselves confirm the arrival of a touchscreen Mac.

New MacBook Pro and iMac

Along with it, a base 14-inch MacBook Pro with an M6 processor and an updated 24-inch iMac with an M6 are expected at the end of October. In addition, Apple has already officially announced that the Mac Studio configuration with M5 Ultra and 512 GB of unified memory will become available at the end of October.

iMac

The first series of announcements, according to Mark Gurman of Bloomberg, is scheduled for October 13. Apple is expected to introduce a new smart home control center with a display, updated HomePod mini, and Apple TV 4K. The main innovation of these devices will be support for Siri AI. The home hub is expected to feature a screen with a diagonal of about 6-7 inches, an A18 processor or newer, a FaceTime camera, and both desktop and wall-mounted versions.

iPad mini

A new iPad mini is also expected by the end of October. According to reports, the tablet will be equipped with an OLED display, an A20 Pro processor, a horizontally positioned front camera, and a redesigned speaker system. It is not yet known which of the two Apple announcement waves it will be part of.

iPad mini 6

At the moment, Apple has not officially announced either the October 13 event or the second series of presentations at the end of the month. Therefore, the dates and the lineup of new products remain preliminary.
