Galaxy Z Fold 8 display flexes under pressure – Samsung calls it a feature

Owners of Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 report that pressing the inner display near its corners causes the panel to flex. Samsung, however, calls this a design feature.

Why the Galaxy Z Fold 8 screen bends

According to Samsung, a small gap between components is provided in the corners of the inner display, allowing the panel to shift slightly when pressed. This creates a cushioning effect and reduces stress on the flexible screen.

This feature should also reduce the risk of damage if a grain of sand or other hard particle lands on the display surface. When folding the smartphone, it may get trapped between the two halves of the screen, and the panel’s flexibility helps compensate for the additional pressure.

Why screens bend differently

At the same time, owners noticed that the degree of flexibility varies across different Galaxy Z Fold 8 units. On some devices, the movement is barely noticeable, while on others, the corner visibly caves in even with a light press.

Samsung considers a slight bend to be a normal design feature that does not affect device operation. If the movement seems excessive or other signs of display malfunction appear, the company recommends contacting an authorized service center for diagnosis.
