Nikon released the affordable full-frame camera Z5 IIC
Nikon has unveiled the full-frame mirrorless camera Nikon Z5IIC. The new model is a more affordable and compact alternative to the Z5II, retaining the same 24.5-megapixel sensor, EXPEED 7 processor, stabilization system, and many autofocus features.
Specifications
The Nikon Z5IIC is equipped with a back-illuminated full-frame 24.5-megapixel CMOS sensor and the EXPEED 7 processor. The built-in 5-axis in-body image stabilization compensates for up to 7.5 stops of exposure at the center of the frame and up to 6 stops at the edges.
Compared to the Z5II, the camera lost its electronic viewfinder and autofocus point selection joystick. The resolution of the 3.2-inch swivel touchscreen dropped from 2.1 million dots to 1.04 million dots. Instead of two memory card slots, it now features a single SD slot supporting UHS-II.
The hybrid autofocus system supports 3D tracking and recognition of ten object types. The Z5IIC also features, for the first time among Nikon cameras, a dedicated fish detection function. It operates only when the corresponding object type is manually selected.
The camera captures bursts at speeds up to 14 fps. In High-Speed Frame Capture+ mode, the speed reaches 30 fps, but shooting at this rate is limited to JPEG files of size L with Normal quality. The Pre-Release Capture function allows saving frames captured one second before fully pressing the shutter button.
The Nikon Z5IIC records 4K video at UHD with frame rates up to 60 fps, but at 50p and 60p it uses the DX-format sensor area. Full HD supports frame rates up to 120 fps. The camera supports H.265/HEVC with color depth up to 10 bits, N-Log, and internal 12-bit N-RAW recording to SD cards. For N-RAW, Nikon recommends V90-class cards.
The mode dial now features 15 scene programs, marking the first such solution among Nikon’s full-frame mirrorless cameras. A dedicated button is also provided for accessing Imaging Recipes from Nikon Imaging Cloud.
The chassis measures 134×80,5×72 mm. The weight is 538 grams without the battery and memory card, or approximately 620 grams with both. Magnesium alloy is used in select chassis components to enhance rigidity. The design also includes protection against dust and splashes. The camera is available in black and silver.
Release dates and price
The Nikon Z5IIC will go on sale in mid-October. In the US, the recommended body price is $1399,95, while the kit with the NIKKOR Z 24-50mm f/4-6.3 lens costs $1699,95. Some retailers will also offer kits with the compact NIKKOR Z 26mm f/2.8 and NIKKOR Z 40mm f/2 lenses.
In Germany and France, the Nikon Z5IIC body costs €1549. Shipments are scheduled to begin on October 15.
