Meta unveiled Ray-Ban Meta Audio glasses – no camera, but with six microphones

Meta unveiled the Ray-Ban Meta Audio smart glasses at Connect 2026. This is the company’s first model without a camera or screen, designed for music, calls, and voice interaction with Meta AI. Removing the camera reduced the weight to 43 grams and extended the claimed battery life to 12 hours.

No camera, but with six microphones

Ray-Ban Meta Audio are equipped with two open-type speakers, allowing you to listen to audio without headphones while maintaining awareness of surrounding sounds. For calls and voice commands, a six-microphone array with wind noise suppression is used.

You can control the glasses via voice, a touchpad on the temple arm, and a customizable action button that you assign to your desired function.

The model has no camera at all, so Ray-Ban Meta Audio cannot take photos, record video, or use visual context for AI requests. Built-in storage for photos and videos is also not provided.

For comparison, the simultaneously released Ray-Ban Meta Gen 3 are equipped with a 12-MP camera capable of 3K video recording and 32 GB of storage, but they last up to nine hours instead of 12 hours like the Audio.

Meta AI and Muse

Through Meta AI, you can play music and podcasts, send voice messages, set reminders, get answers to questions, and use other supported voice features. Availability of individual features and languages depends on the country. Supported scenarios also include real-time conversation translation.

The new personal AI agent Muse will not appear on the glasses immediately. Meta plans to add integration in the coming months. Users will be able to address the agent by name and engage in extended voice conversations with it.

Features of Muse that require understanding what the user is looking at will not work on Ray-Ban Meta Audio due to the lack of a camera.

Design and lenses

The glasses are available in two frame styles. The Clubmaster features Ray-Ban’s signature retro design, while the Burbank is a more classic rectangular model.

A total of 23 frame and lens color combinations are available. Transitions clear, sunglasses, polarized, and photochromic lenses are offered. Both frames are compatible with prescription lenses.

Clubmaster is available in size 51-21: lens height is 44.2 mm, temple length is 151 mm. Burbank comes in sizes 51-19 and 54-19. Depending on the version, lens height is either 38.5 or 40.7 mm, and temple length is either 152 or 157 mm.

Adjustable temple tips are provided for fitting. The Clubmaster features nose pads with three adjustable positions, while the Burbank model comes with interchangeable nose pads: the set includes three sizes.

Battery life and connectivity

Ray-Ban Meta Audio earbuds last up to 12 hours on a single charge, and the fully charged case adds up to an additional 48 hours. Actual battery life depends on usage patterns and settings. The charging case connects via USB-C; however, the cable is not included in the box.

Bluetooth 5.3 is used to connect with the smartphone. The glasses are compatible with devices running iOS 17 and Android 10 or newer versions. Initial setup requires the Meta AI app, a Meta account, and an internet connection.

The manufacturer has not yet specified a separate water and dust protection rating for Ray-Ban Meta Audio.

Price and release date

In the US, Ray-Ban Meta Audio start at $349. Preorders are now open, and shipments will begin on October 13. This is $100 cheaper than the Ray-Ban Meta Gen 3 with a camera, which has a starting price of $449.

In Europe, the price starts at €349. These prices apply, in particular, to Germany, Belgium, and Austria. Depending on the country, first deliveries are expected on 14-15 October.

Versions with polarized and photochromic lenses cost more than the base configuration.
