XTEINK has released the pocket e-reader X4 Classic, also known as X4 V2. The model replaces the original X4 and serves as a more affordable alternative to the X4 Pro, retaining physical buttons and a compact form factor.

Features

The XTEINK X4 Classic is equipped with a 4.3-inch E Ink display featuring a density of 219 ppi. It lacks a touchscreen layer and built-in backlight, so control is entirely managed via physical buttons on the front and side panels. The device measures 114 × 69 × 4,9 mm in size and weighs 68 grams.

The package includes a 16 GB microSD card for storing books, and the reader supports cards up to 256 GB. This is an important clarification: it refers not to 16 GB of internal storage. You can also transfer files using the XTEINK app or by connecting to a computer.

The X4 Classic supports EPUB, TXT, MOBI, and PDF, but the manufacturer warns that MOBI and PDF may not work fully and recommends converting such files beforehand using the proprietary app. It also supports the proprietary formats XTEINK XTCH, XTC, and XTCZ. The listed wireless interfaces are Wi-Fi 2.4 GHz and Bluetooth.

One of the unusual features is Shake-to-Flip: pages can be turned with a light shake of the device. The feature can be enabled in the reading menu or via a quick-access button, and if needed, it can be disabled to use the standard buttons.

The back panel features a magnetic mount, allowing the reader to be secured to a compatible smartphone or case. Charging uses a magnetic connector with pogo pin contacts instead of USB-C. The package includes a corresponding magnetic adapter.

The battery capacity has increased to 920 mAh, which is 270 mAh more than the original X4. XTEINK claims up to 10 days of use with moderate reading.

Price and release date

Sales of the XTEINK X4 Classic began on September 7. On the official website, the reader is offered for $79, while the X4 Pro starts at $99.
