Both models received 185-Hz AMOLED displays, 200-megapixel cameras, Bose audio systems, and Qualcomm flagship processors. At the same time, global versions lost some battery capacity compared to the Chinese Redmi K100 Pro and K100 Pro Max, and prices rose significantly.

Chassis and design

POCO F9 Pro and F9 Ultra are based on the Redmi K100 Pro and K100 Pro Max, which were previously unveiled in China. Smartphones received metal frames and protection against water and dust.

POCO F9 Pro

F9 Pro is more compact: its dimensions are 157,49 × 75,25 × 8,79 mm, and its weight is 206 grams. The model is available in several colors, including Aurora Green with a luminescent back panel coating. It accumulates light and begins to glow in the dark.

POCO F9 Ultra

The F9 Ultra is noticeably larger – 163,49 × 77,94 × 8,74 mm with a weight of 235 grams. A separate subwoofer is built into the camera module, surrounded by an LED ring. It is used for notifications and light effects during music playback and in games.

Display

POCO F9 Pro received a 6.59-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 2510 × 1156 pixels, while the F9 Ultra features a 6.9-inch panel with a resolution of 2608 × 1200 pixels.

In both cases, 12-bit HyperRGB AMOLED panels on TCL M11 material with a refresh rate up to 185 Hz are used. Maximum frequency is available in compatible games, more than 20 of which are announced at launch.

The touch layer polling frequency is 480 Hz, and the instantaneous touch registration frequency can reach up to 4800 Hz. HDR10+, Dolby Vision, and DC Dimming are supported.

Peak brightness reaches 4500 nits on an enlarged area of the screen and up to 10,000 nits when displaying HDR on a small area of the panel.

Performance

POCO F9 Ultra is equipped with Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, while the F9 Pro received Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 V Series – a slightly simplified version of Qualcomm’s flagship platform. POCO claims that the F9 Ultra scores up to 4,165,108 points in AnTuTu.

Smartphones also use an additional VisionBoost D8 chip responsible for image processing in games. AI-based resolution upscaling and intermediate frame generation are supported.

The 3D IceLoop system is responsible for cooling. In gaming modes, WildBoost Engine manages CPU performance, graphics, and touch input.

The F9 Pro is equipped with 12 GB of LPDDR5X Ultra memory and a UFS 4.1 storage of 256 or 512 GB. For the F9 Ultra, versions with 12 or 16 GB of RAM and storage capacity from 256 GB to 1 TБ are available.

Cameras

Both models for the first time in the POCO F series received a main camera with a resolution of 200 MP. A 1/1,56-inch Samsung ISOCELL HP5 sensor is used, along with an f/1.68 aperture lens and optical image stabilization.

POCO F9 Pro

POCO F9 Pro is additionally equipped with an 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera with a 112-degree field of view and a 50-megapixel telephoto lens with 2.5x optical zoom. The latter can focus from a distance of 10 cm and is used for telephoto macro photography.

The F9 Ultra has a more serious camera setup. In addition to the main 200-megapixel module, a 50 MP ultra-wide sensor and a 50-megapixel Samsung JN5 periscope telephoto lens with 5x optical zoom and OIS are installed.

POCO F9 Ultra

For Ultra, up to 10x optical zoom without significant quality loss and 20x digital zoom with AI image processing are claimed.

The front camera of both models has a resolution of 32 MP and supports 4K video recording.

Sound

Smartphone audio systems are developed in collaboration with Bose.

POCO F9 Pro is equipped with two symmetric speakers 1115F. The F9 Ultra features a full 2.1 system – two 1115D speakers are complemented by a separate 1620 subwoofer on the rear panel.

Also, customized Bose sound profiles Dynamic and Balanced are provided. The F9 Ultra features the Bose Game Audio Engine technology, which can isolate important game sounds, such as enemy footsteps.

Battery

POCO F9 Pro received a silicon-carbon battery with a capacity of 6330 мА·ч, while the F9 Ultra has 8050 мА·ч.

This is significantly less than that of the Chinese models on which the smartphones are based. The Redmi K100 Pro is equipped with an 8580 мА·ч battery, meaning the global version lost 2250 мА·ч at once. The Redmi K100 Pro Max is equipped with a 9070 мА·ч battery – the F9 Ultra has a capacity reduced by 1020 мА·ч.

At the same time, charging capabilities are practically flagship-level. Both models support:

  • 100 W wired charging;
  • 50 W wireless charging;
  • reverse wired charging up to 27 W;
  • reverse wireless charging up to 22.5 W.

Other

Smartphones support Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.0, NFC, 5G and eSIM. An infrared transmitter for controlling home appliances has also been retained. The fingerprint scanner is ultrasonic and built under the screen.

As the operating system, Android 16 with the HyperOS 3 shell is used. The series is promised four major Android updates and six years of security updates.
