Huawei Pura X View unveiled – wide screen, 7000 мА·ч battery, and HarmonyOS 7
Huawei is bringing the wide-screen concept from the foldable Pura X series to a standard monolithic device. The new Pura X View features unusual 16:9.5 proportions, an almost bezel-less display, and a 7000 мА·ч battery with a body thickness of just 6.68 mm.
The smartphone was unexpectedly shown on August 20 during the Stelato G9 presentation and the new HarmonyOS ecosystem products. The manufacturer calls the Pura X View the first representative of a new class of “wide monoblocks”. In essence, this is the development of the ideas behind the foldable Pura X and Pura X Max, but without a hinge and a second display.
Display
The main feature of the Huawei Pura X View is a 6.39-inch display with a resolution of 2232×1320 pixels and an aspect ratio of 16:9.5. It is noticeably wider than the displays of most modern smartphones, which are typically elongated to 19.5:9 or 20:9.
Despite the relatively small diagonal, the panel area reaches 114.27 cm². For comparison, the 6.9-inch iPhone 17 Pro Max has an area of approximately 111.55 cm². In other words, the Pura X View offers a larger usable screen area thanks to different proportions rather than an increased device height.
Huawei states the following panel specifications:
- peak brightness – 6500 nits;
- contrast ratio – 1,000,000:1;
- PWM dimming frequency – 2160 Hz;
- the bezel thickness on all four sides is 1.05 mm;
- screen-to-front-panel area ratio – 96.1%.
According to the company, this is the highest screen-to-front-panel area ratio among mass-produced smartphones at the time of announcement.
The wide format is designed not only for video playback. When playing 16:9 content, black bars are reduced, more horizontal space becomes available in games, and more information fits in documents and spreadsheets. Huawei also claims an increase in the useful image area when watching videos by approximately 16%, and when viewing content vertically by 21%.
For games, the company separately notes a broader overview in FPS and other competitive projects. Increased width also allows virtual controls to be spaced further apart.
When working with documents, more table columns and presentation elements fit on the screen, and the on-screen keyboard receives larger spacing between keys. Stylus support for notes, drawing, and content work is also announced.
Chassis and design
Despite the non-standard display and large battery, the Pura X View turned out to be quite thin – the body thickness is 6.68 mm with a weight of 201 grams.
The back panel is made of glass with a volumetric raster texture. The striped pattern changes depending on the angle of illumination. The camera module has an elongated oval shape in the style of Pura X Max.
Four color options are available: red, gray, white, and black.
Unlike the Pura X and Pura X Max, the new smartphone does not fold. Dropping the hinge freed up space inside the chassis, allowing Huawei to install a significantly larger battery.
Battery
The battery capacity of the Huawei Pura X View is 7000 мА·ч. This is a particularly notable figure given the chassis thickness of 6.68 mm.
For comparison, the foldable Pura X is equipped with a 4720 мА·ч battery, while the significantly larger Pura X Max has a 5300 мА·ч battery. Thus, the transition to a conventional design allowed for a significant increase in battery life while maintaining the wide-screen concept.
Huawei promises a full day of battery life with mixed usage including navigation, social media, video, games, and camera. The power of wired and wireless charging has not yet been disclosed.
HarmonyOS 7
Huawei Pura X View will become the first smartphone to hit the market with HarmonyOS 7 out of the box. The system was unveiled in the summer of 2026, but to date it has been distributed primarily through testing and updates for existing devices.
For the unique aspect ratio of Pura X View, the interface and applications are additionally adapted so that programs do not stretch and properly utilize the extra space.
HarmonyOS 7 received an updated spatial design with translucent elements, light effects, and more volumetric interface animation. However, the changes are not limited to the appearance.
The system is transitioning to a new architecture for AI agents. The Xiaoyi assistant has gained a deeper understanding of context, memory, and access to system functions, enabling it to execute action sequences instead of individual voice commands.
Also updated are the Ark Engine with intelligent resource allocation, inter-device interaction tools, and the security system. Huawei has added new mechanisms for detecting fraudulent calls, dangerous QR codes, suspicious pages, and other potential threats.
Memory, cameras, and performance
At the time of its first unveiling, Huawei did not reveal most of the hardware specifications for the Pura X View.
Three memory configurations have been announced so far:
- 12 GB + 256 GB;
- 12 GB + 512 GB;
- 12 GB + 1 TБ.
The processor model is not officially named. Huawei has also not yet disclosed information about camera specifications, charging power, wireless connectivity standards, and the device’s ingress protection rating.
The published images show several main camera modules inside an elongated block, but the manufacturer has left their resolution and purpose for a full presentation.
Price and release date
Pre-registration for the Huawei Pura X View in China begins on August 20 at 18:08 Beijing time. Starting August 28, the smartphone will be available in Huawei’s official stores, where it can be tested.
The price and the start date of retail sales have not yet been announced. A full launch is expected later, so Huawei still needs to reveal the processor, cameras, charging specifications, and final pricing for all configurations.
