ASUS released the Googlebook 14 ultrabook with Intel Core Ultra 7, Googlebook OS, and a weight of 990 grams

ASUS Googlebook 14 – a laptop running the new Googlebook OS, designed for deep integration with Gemini Intelligence and Android smartphones.

The platform is built on Android technologies and ChromeOS desktop components, so Google positions the Googlebook as a new laptop category following the Chromebook. The ASUS model features a lightweight magnesium-aluminum chassis, an OLED display, and Intel Core Ultra Series 3 processors with integrated NPU for artificial intelligence tasks.

Googlebook OS and Gemini

Googlebook OS combines the Android software foundation with ChromeOS desktop capabilities. The laptop supports Google Play apps and integrates closely with compatible Android smartphones. Users can access files and photos on their phone from the computer, stream mobile apps, and continue tasks started on the smartphone on the laptop. Some features require a device running Android 17 or later.

One of the system’s features is the Magic Pointer function. Simply move the cursor quickly to invoke Gemini for interacting with on-screen content. For example, the AI can recognize a date and suggest adding an event to the calendar or performing an action on selected images. Hardware protection is handled by the Google Titan C chip.

The ASUS Googlebook 14 features a 14-inch touchscreen OLED display with 2880 × 1800 pixels resolution, 120 Hz refresh rate, 16:10 aspect ratio, and peak brightness up to 1000 nits for HDR content. The screen covers 100% of the DCI-P3 color space, is Pantone certified, and protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus glass with Gorilla Matte anti-glare coating.

In the top configuration, it uses an Intel Core Ultra 7 355 processor with speeds up to 4.7 GHz. It features integrated Intel Graphics and an Intel AI Boost neural processing unit with performance up to 49 TOPS. The laptop supports up to 64 GB of LPDDR5X RAM and a PCIe 4.0 solid-state drive with capacity up to 1 TB.

For video calls, it features a 1080p camera with a physical privacy shutter. The power button includes a fingerprint scanner. The audio system comprises six speakers, the keyboard has backlighting and a 1.5 mm key travel, and the touchpad supports haptic feedback.

The ASUS Googlebook 14 is housed in a magnesium-aluminum chassis weighing from 990 grams and measuring from 10.9 mm in thickness. The surface is treated with Nano Ceramic technology for added protection against scratches, stains, and wear. The laptop has been tested in accordance with MIL-STD-810H standards.

According to ASUS, the 70 Wh battery provides up to 18 hours of video playback. In Google’s tests with web browsing, up to 16 hours are claimed, so actual battery life will depend on the usage scenario.

Wireless interfaces include Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6.0. The port selection features two Thunderbolt 4 ports supporting USB4, Power Delivery, and DisplayPort 1.4, two USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A ports, HDMI 2.1b, and a combined 3.5-mm audio jack.

Release dates and price

Pre-orders for the ASUS Googlebook 14 in the U.S. began on September 21. Retail sales of the Googlebook will start on October 4. The laptop is available in Dusk Ash color.

The price of the ASUS Googlebook 14 in the US starts at $1299. In Europe, the model is priced higher.

ASUS Googlebook 14 buyers also receive a 12-month Google AI Pro subscription with 5 TB of cloud storage. The offer is available to eligible users in several countries, including the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, and France. The device must be activated no earlier than October 1, 2026, and the offer must be redeemed by March 31, 2027.
