TCL unveiled P80 Pro and P80 Ultra smartphones with NXTPAPER displays
TCL unveiled the P80, P80 Pro, and P80 Ultra smartphones at IFA 2026. The two higher-end models became the company’s first mass-produced smartphones to combine NXTPAPER technology with an AMOLED display. The base P80 retained a similar screen but without NXTPAPER.
Display
All three smartphones are equipped with 6.83-inch AMOLED displays featuring a 2772 × 1280-pixel resolution, a 120 Hz refresh rate, and a peak brightness of up to 3200 nits. The touch sampling rate reaches 2560 Hz.

The main difference between the P80 Pro and P80 Ultra is the NXTPAPER AMOLED technology. The display uses a nano-textured anti-glare coating, hardware-based blue light reduction, and circular polarization up to 95%. TCL claims that this design reduces glare and makes the image more comfortable for the eyes. At high brightness levels, DC Dimming is used, while at low brightness, PWM with a frequency of 3840 Hz is employed.

The P80 Pro and P80 Ultra feature an NXTPAPER Key on the side. It switches the smartphone between Paper Mode and Max Ink Mode. The latter converts the interface to a reading format, restricts background app activity, and disables most notifications. According to TCL, battery life in this mode can reach up to seven days.
Also, the smartphones come with more than 500 e-books. Built-in AI features allow converting book text into audio format or a podcast.
Performance
TCL The P80 Ultra and P80 Pro run on a 4nm MediaTek Dimensity 7400 Elite. RAM capacity is 8 GB, while internal storage options are 256 or 512 GB.

The base TCL P80 uses the Dimensity 7300 Elite. It also comes with 8 GB of RAM, but is available with either 128 or 256 GB of storage.
Cameras
The main camera on all three models uses a 50-MP sensor with a 1/1,56-inch format and supports both optical and electronic stabilization. It is complemented by an 8-MP ultra-wide-angle camera with autofocus. The front camera has a resolution of 32 MP.

TCL The P80 Ultra features an additional 50-MP periscope telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom and OIS + EIS stabilization. The manufacturer also claims 6x zoom without significant quality loss.
Battery and other components
The battery capacity of the P80 Pro and P80 Ultra is 5800 mAh, while the base P80 has 5000 mAh. All three smartphones support 45 W wired charging.
The series also offers IP68 body protection, stereo speakers with DTS, Wi-Fi 6, and eSIM support. In the TCL P80, the body thickness is 7.5 mm and the weight is 178 grams.
