Galaxy S27 Ultra will be able to independently repair micro-scratches on the display.

For several generations, Samsung’s flagship smartphones, starting with Galaxy S24 Ultra, have been equipped with Gorilla Armor glass featuring enhanced anti-glare properties and increased scratch resistance.

This feature will remain in future models, including the Galaxy S27 Ultra. However, Samsung may go even further in collaboration with Corning. According to new data, companies are working on a special glass coating capable of independently eliminating the tiniest micro-scratches.

We are talking specifically about micro-scratches that appear during everyday use—for example, due to contact with keys, dust, or other items in a pocket. Deep cracks and damage from a fall cannot be fixed with this coating.

It is expected that the technology will be a further development of Gorilla Armor, which Samsung has been using in flagship smartphones since the Galaxy S24 Ultra. The new coating is planned to be applied directly to the outer surface of the screen. Similar technologies have already been used in smartphones. For example, the back panel of the LG G Flex 2 could self-heal minor scratches.

The Galaxy S27 Ultra is expected to be unveiled in early 2027. So far, it is only rumors, as Samsung and Corning have not officially confirmed the development of a self-healing coating.
