iOS 27 release scheduled for September 14 – which iPhones will receive the update?

Apple will release iOS 27 on Monday, September 14. The update will maintain compatibility with the same smartphone generations as iOS 26: owners of iPhone 11 and newer models, as well as second- and third-generation iPhone SE devices, will be able to install the system.

Which iPhones will receive iOS 27?

The list of compatible devices includes:

• the iPhone 17 lineup, including the iPhone Air and iPhone 17e;
• the iPhone 16 lineup, including the iPhone 16e;
• iPhone 15 lineup;
• iPhone 14 lineup;
• the iPhone 13 lineup, including the iPhone 13 mini;
• the iPhone 12 lineup, including the iPhone 12 mini;
• iPhone 11 lineup;
• iPhone SE of the second and third generations.

iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, and iPhone XR will not receive an update. These models lost support with the release of iOS 26. The new iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max will go on sale already with iOS 27, while the foldable iPhone Duo will launch later with iOS 27.1.

Not everyone will get Siri AI

Compatibility with iOS 27 itself does not mean access to all new features. Siri AI works on iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max, all iPhone 16 models, and newer devices that support Apple Intelligence.

The new Siri will be able to take into account screen content and personal context, search for information in messages, email, and photos, and perform actions within apps. At launch, Siri AI will be available in beta only for devices with English language support. French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, and Spanish will be added in October. In the European Union, Siri AI on iPhone and iPad is currently unavailable.

In addition to the new Siri, iOS 27 will bring changes to the Liquid Glass interface, new parental control features, and performance improvements. On September 14, Apple will also release iPadOS 27, watchOS 27, and macOS 27 Golden Gate.
