Motorola Edge 70 Plus at €529 gets a 200-MP camera and a 144 Hz display

Motorola unveiled the Edge 70 Plus smartphone at the IFA 2026 exhibition. The model features a 200-MP main camera, a 6500 mAh battery, and a 144-Hz AMOLED display, but the “Plus” name is somewhat misleading here: in terms of specifications, the smartphone falls short of the standard Edge 70.

Chassis and design

The Motorola Edge 70 Plus features the series’ signature style with rounded body edges and a four-sided curved display. Its thickness is 8.49 mm, and its weight is 196 grams.

The screen is protected by Gorilla Glass 7i. The smartphone meets MIL-STD-810H requirements, but water and dust protection is limited to IP64. For comparison, the standard Edge 70 has IP68/IP69 protection.

Four Pantone colors are available: Mountain View, Gray Lilac, Milky Blue, and Sage. Depending on the color, the back panel mimics the texture of silk, acetate, or leather.

Display

The smartphone is equipped with a 6.78-inch Extreme AMOLED display featuring a resolution of 2772 × 1272 pixels and a refresh rate up to 144 Hz. Peak brightness is rated at 5200 nits.

The panel supports HDR10+ and Pantone calibration. The fingerprint scanner is built into the display.

Performance

The Motorola Edge 70 Plus runs on Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 with Adreno 720 graphics. It uses a vapor chamber for cooling.

It features 8 GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 128 or 256 GB of internal storage UFS 3.1. Storage can be expanded with a microSD card up to 1 TB.

Here, the Edge 70 Plus again stands out against the standard Edge 70: the base model uses a more powerful Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 and is available with 12 GB of RAM.

Cameras

The main camera uses a 200-MP sensor with an f/1.8 aperture and optical stabilization. This is the highest-resolution camera among Motorola smartphones. By default, the sensor combines 16 adjacent pixels to produce 12.5-MP images.

Announced are a 10x Super Zoom, 4K video recording, and Photo Enhancement Engine processing. Color reproduction and skin tones are Pantone-certified.

The second camera turned out to be significantly simpler—it is a 2-MP macro camera. There is no ultra-wide-angle camera or telephoto lens. For comparison, the standard Edge 70 is equipped with a 50-MP main camera and a 50-MP ultra-wide-angle camera.

The front camera of the Edge 70 Plus has a resolution of 32 MP and can also record video in 4K. When you rotate the smartphone to landscape orientation, the camera automatically widens its field of view for group shots.

Battery

The typical battery capacity is 6500 mAh, with a nominal capacity of 6300 mAh. Motorola claims up to 42 hours of talk time, 34 hours of video playback, or 23 hours of social media use, though actual battery life will depend on the usage scenario.

Wired TurboPower charging supports up to 45 W. Bypass charging is supported: when the adapter is connected, power can be supplied directly to the smartphone components, reducing heat and stress on the battery.

Wireless charging is not available. For comparison, the Edge 70 supports wired charging at 68 W and wireless charging at 15 W.

Other

The Motorola Edge 70 Plus runs on Android 16. Other features include stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos and Hi-Res Audio, NFC, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.4, 5G, USB Type-C, and support for nano-SIM along with eSIM.

Gemini Live, Circle to Search, and other Google AI features have been integrated into the system.
