Preliminary reviews of GTA 6 will be published on August 27

Rockstar Games, it seems, is preparing not only a major presentation for August 27 GTA VI. On the same day, gaming outlets will be able to publish their own materials about the game – closed screenings for journalists began even before the official demonstration.

Journalists have already been shown GTA VI

According to MP1st, the first closed presentations of GTA VI for the press took place back in July. However, these were so-called hands-off previews: journalists were not allowed to play GTA VI on their own. Instead, Rockstar representatives demonstrated the game themselves or showed pre-prepared gameplay segments.

This is an important clarification, as initial reports about closed events led to speculation that individual journalists have already received GTA 6 in hand. According to new information, full-scale preliminary testing has not yet taken place.

At the same time, Insider Gaming independently reported that closed preview events for GTA VI are continuing. Rockstar is likely conducting multiple sessions for different media outlets and content creators.

There is an embargo on publishing what was seen, which, according to sources from MP1st, will be lifted on August 27. Thus, immediately after the major showcase of GTA 6, a whole series of preliminary reviews with additional details about the world, mechanics, and gameplay may appear online.

The GTA VI presentation will take place on August 27

Rockstar officially scheduled Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look for August 27. First, the presentation will be available exclusively on Netflix at 3:00 PM ET – that is 10:00 PM Kyiv and Moscow time.

In six hours, at 21:00 ET or already at 04:00 Kyiv and Moscow time on August 28, the same material will be freely available on the official Rockstar Games YouTube channel and the GTA VI website.

Meanwhile, Rockstar itself cautiously refers to the event only as an “extended showcase” and has not officially disclosed either its duration or content. Therefore, it cannot be claimed yet that this is a full-fledged gameplay trailer. However, several sources immediately refer to the August presentation as the first detailed showcase of GTA VI gameplay.

If information about the journalistic embargo is correct, on August 27 Rockstar will effectively launch two waves of content at once: an official trailer and media publications that were shown the game in advance.

Leaks are not related to journalists

Information about the closed screenings appeared almost simultaneously with a new large-scale leak GTA 6. Several alleged gameplay videos and images of the Leonida map have leaked online.

The video demonstrated Jason, the Focus system, stamina, a six-star wanted level, engine condition and fuel reserves of vehicles, the ability to use the trunk as storage, as well as a more complex police and witness reaction system. Other materials contain hints of a reputation or morality system.

Rockstar has not confirmed the authenticity of these materials. Nevertheless, part of the video began to disappear from the network after complaints about copyright infringement.

Judging by the format of the closed events, journalists were unlikely to be the source of these leaks. During the hands-off demonstration, they did not have access to the game build and did not control GTA VI themselves. Insider Gaming also noted that the quality and nature of the leaked recordings do not resemble materials from the press presentation.

Thus, within a week it will be possible to compare the leaks with the official version GTA VI and understand which of the discovered mechanics have actually been preserved in the current game build.

When will GTA VI be released?

The release of Grand Theft Auto VI is scheduled for November 19, 2026. At launch, the game will be available on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. The PC version has not yet been officially announced.

Pre-orders are now open. The standard edition of GTA VI costs $80, while the Ultimate Edition is $100.

The main characters will be Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos. The action will take place in the state of Leonid with a modern version of Vice City and surrounding regions. According to Rockstar’s official description, after a failed case, the protagonists are drawn into a criminal conspiracy spanning the entire state.
