Rockstar has revealed how long it will take to complete GTA 6
Rockstar Games continues to reveal details about Grand Theft Auto VI, and it is now known how long it may take to complete the game. According to Rob Nelson, co-lead of Rockstar North, his playthrough took about 80 hours.
This is significantly more than in previous parts of the series. For example, the plot of GTA V takes about 32 hours. Thus, if Rockstar’s estimate is close to the average completion time, the GTA 6 campaign will be almost 2.5 times longer than in the previous main installment of the series. Other games in the franchise also noticeably lag behind the new release in duration: the plot of GTA IV takes about 27 hours, while completing GTA III, Vice City, and San Andreas together takes around 64 hours.

At the same time, 80 hours is not the limit. This refers only to Rob Nelson’s personal experience; completing the entire game with all side quests, activities, and world exploration may require significantly more time.
In the extended preview, Rockstar showcased new episodes featuring Lucia and Jason. Heroes get drawn into dangerous criminal operations, participate in chases and heists, while some missions take them to lavish parties that quickly turn into real chaos.
Judging by the provided materials, Rockstar is betting not only on a lengthy narrative campaign but also on a rich open world where players can independently decide what to do.
GTA 6 will be released on November 19 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. If the claimed 80 hours turn out to be close to the actual time required to complete the story campaign, the new game could become the longest entry in the series by this metric and one of Rockstar’s largest projects.
