Microsoft has secured exclusive rights to cloud streaming for GTA 6 at the time of its November 19 release. Thanks to Xbox Cloud Gaming, the game will be playable on PCs and other supported devices without the need to purchase a console.

The Verge cites sources familiar with Microsoft’s plans. Xbox head Asha Sharma also informed company employees that the division is preparing something for the launch of GTA 6 that “no other platform holder is doing.” Microsoft and Rockstar have not yet officially confirmed the agreement.

If the information is correct, GTA VI will be available for cloud streaming exclusively via Xbox Cloud Gaming at launch. The duration of the exclusive agreement is unknown. Consequently, PC owners will be able to play via the cloud on release day, whereas a native Windows version of GTA 6 has not even been announced yet. Officially, Rockstar is releasing the game on November 19, 2026, only for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.

The deal coincides with major changes to Xbox Cloud Gaming. Starting in November, Game Pass Ultimate subscribers will receive 15 hours of cloud gaming per month, Premium members will get 10 hours, and Essential members will get 5 hours. Once the limit is reached, additional hours can be purchased separately.

Furthermore, according to The Verge, Microsoft will open Xbox Cloud Gaming to users without a Game Pass subscription and offer pay-as-you-go gaming time packages. This scheme will allow PC, smartphone, and other compatible device owners to run GTA VI via the cloud. Microsoft has not yet announced the cost of additional hours.
