Research firm Counterpoint Research published a list of the world’s best-selling phone models for the second quarter of 2026, from April to the end of June. Spoiler: all ten spots in the ranking were taken by Apple and Samsung devices.

At the same time, the global smartphone market is going through a difficult period. In the second quarter, smartphone sales declined by 11% compared to the same period last year. One of the reasons experts cite is the ongoing shortage and rising prices of RAM, which affects device production and cost.

iPhone 17

Despite the overall market decline, the ten most popular models managed to increase their combined share. They accounted for 26% of all smartphone sales – a record figure for the second quarter.

The leader of the rating is once again the ordinary iPhone 17. Following them are the iPhone 17 Pro Max and iPhone 17 Pro. Thus, the top three spots in the ranking went entirely to Apple. The success of the iPhone 17 series is especially noticeable against the backdrop of a general market decline. Apple smartphone sales in the second quarter grew by approximately 5% year over year.

Galaxy S26 Ultra

In fourth place was Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra. Usually, in lists of best-selling smartphones, more affordable models from the Galaxy A series lead for Samsung. However, this time the company’s most popular smartphone was its flagship – one of the most expensive. Moreover, the Galaxy S26 Ultra accounted for more than half of all sales of the entire Galaxy S26 series.

In addition to the Galaxy S26 Ultra, more affordable smartphones from the Korean manufacturer also made it into the top ten, including the Galaxy A07, Galaxy A17, and Galaxy S26.
