4A Games showed Metro 2039 gameplay on PS5 Pro and announced the game’s release date

4A Games revealed new gameplay for Metro 2039 and announced the exact release date. The shooter will launch on February 4, 2027, for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S. The new trailer was recorded on PS5 Pro.

New gameplay

In the shown clip, Stranger leaves the metro tunnels and emerges onto the surface of Moscow. His objective is the fortress of Novo Reich, located inside the dam.

Along the way, the hero explores ruined buildings, monitors radiation levels and equipment status, and engages in firefights with enemies.

Metro 2039 will remain a single-player first-person shooter with location exploration, stealth, and survival elements. In the new trailer, the Stranger uses the Shatun rifle for silent attacks, Molotov cocktails, and the Duplet shotgun.

Story

The main character of Metro 2039 will be the Stranger, a former Spartan soldier who previously left the Moscow metro.

By 2039, the stations had been united under the rule of the Novo Reich led by Hunter. The new regime controls the population through propaganda and fear and is preparing for another struggle for the surface.

The scenario is created with the participation of Dmitry Glukhovsky, author of the book series Metro.

Graphics and Performance

Metro 2039 runs on a new version of the 4A Engine. Ray tracing is supported on PS5 and PS5 Pro, and in performance mode the game can run at up to 60 frames per second.

The gameplay shown was recorded directly on the PS5 Pro.

Release date

Metro 2039 will be released on February 4, 2027, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. The PC version will launch on Steam, Epic Games Store, and Microsoft Store. Pre-orders will open later in 2026.
